Richard Dye – Saxophone

Richard Dye is a respected name on the Boston music scene as a performer, music educator, band leader, and arranger. Richard is a graduate from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelors in Performance and a minor in Africana studies.  Richard also has an extensive background in big band and jazz composition.

Richard has been fortunate to work with the Berklee-based music therapy organization Global Youth Groove, in conjunction with his own band, the AfroXchange to teach, perform, and assist a music therapy team in several countries globally. His work with this organization has taken him to cities in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, and he has also taught and performed at schools and colleges in the greater Boston area.

Richard has studied under and performed alongside many esteemed musicians, including Tia Fuller, Lawrence “Larry” Watson, Jim Odgren, Dino Govoni, Frank Tiberi, Darren Barret, and many others.

Richard currently leads a horn section which plays weddings and corporate events with a number of bands, including Soul of Boston, Rick Express, and Umami. With the rest of his time, Richard composes orignal music and teaches as a private instrcutor at Onset School of Music.
