Jiri Nedoma – (IN STUDIO & online)
Jiri Nedoma has been playing the piano since the age of 5. Born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic, he came to Boston to study at Berklee after getting a degree at Prague’s Conservatory of Jaroslav Jezek. He focused on classical music and jazz while attending the conservatory and simultaneously performed with the Czech Radio Big Band, giving him the opportunity to share stages across Europe with many types of musicians. At Berklee, he studied piano performance and received the Claire Beskind Award. After graduation, thanks to the Helena Foundation Presidential Scholarship, he was able to pursue his master’s degree at the New England Conservatory; he graduated in 2013. Now a music educator himself, he continues to perform in the Boston area with his own trio, artists like Albino Mbie from Mozambique, Balkan fusion band Dashina, and others.
Jiri has studied with such renowned jazz musicians as Joanne Brackeen, Hal Crook, Fred Hersch and Jerry Bergonzi, to name a few. He has played at festivals including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival, and the San Jose Jazz Festival, and worked and recorded with Grammy-winner Terri Lyne Carrington, Grammy nominee Donna McElroy, Gabrielle Goodman, and Hal Crook, among others.
