Nadav Friedman – Drums
Drummer - Percussionist Nadav Friedman had become an uncompromising voice of multi instrumental virtuosity. While mastering in Jazz Drum Set through bachelor’s degree in Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and a Master’s at the prestigious New England Conservatory in Boston, Nadav had also become a sought after percussionist. He studies with traditional masters, playing Middle Eastern, North and West African, South American and Indian traditions, and professionalizing on traditional instruments such as Frame Drum, Dohola and Tar. Over years of experience, Nadav had created an original playing style, bringing percussion and its traditions to the improvised freedom of a drum set. His playing is often described as groove oriented and virtuosic, with fresh and ancient drum sounds that make him an important member of many groups of different genres, successful in and out of Israel. During his time in the Jerusalem music scene, he co-founded the North-African Andalucian Orchestra “HaMadrasa”, exploring Algerian and Moroccan golden age music. He also co-founded the Soltz jazz trio gaining critical acclaim by music critics and radio stations in Israel, and performing internationally in Australia and Europe. The trio participated in the “International Exposure Festival” by the Israeli Foreign Affairs department. He now resides in Boston, completing his studies at NEC, holding the NEC Orchestra drummer chair and leading a group performing his own compositions.
