Zanna Liming – (ONLINE ONLY)
Zanna hails from southern California, where her parents (both of whom were also teachers) first enrolled her in piano lessons after they noticed her running back and forth to play the commercials she would hear on TV. She studied Music Business at San Francisco State University while concurrently studying Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, but she then left the bay area for Boston on a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music, where she graduated with a double degree in Vocal Performance and Songwriting. While on the east coast, Zanna toured and performed at local Boston and New York venues, radio shows, and TV Shows. Zanna also toured with “Pink Voyd,” for which she was featured on “Great Gig in the Sky,” and “Led to Zep.” She also sang for “The Sultans,” with “Alley Blues,” which won the 2008 Boston Blues Challenge, with Four Piece Suit (soundtracks for Sex and the City, Dexter) and Woody Giessmann (of The Del Fuegos). She played keys and vocals for the comedic “World Gone Crazy Band,” was the lead singer for the world music-influenced band, “Bangalore” (West African drumming and North Indian Classical Music, blended with American roots and jazz), and she played percussion and lead female vocals for high-energy rock, pop, and dance bands at private parties, bars, and night clubs in the New England area.
She has sung, played piano, guitar, bass, and arranged for many artists while working as the Assistant Engineer and production manager at Rear Window Studios in Brookline, MA; recent notable album credits include working with Yo-Yo Ma and Carlos Santana. She additionally employed her speaking voice as the “Voice of God” for Reebok and similar voice over work. She is proficient in various styles, including jazz, country, pop, folk, blues, and rock. Zanna is often composing and performing her own music, and has been honored by the Billboard World Song Contest, and has been recently been playing in local venues. Since 2009, Zanna has been teaching voice, guitar, piano, theory, songwriting, arranging, and recording, focusing on the technical, historical, and emotive aspects of music….but the single most important factor in Zanna’s lessons is FUN!
